Richard touched the hearts of all who knew him with his love and kindness.

This site is dedicated to his memory.

Richard Edward Knott was born on 26 February 1957. He was a loyal and loving husband of Lyn and a proud, adoring father of their three beautiful daughters Laura, Megan and Elly.

Ricky was the devoted son of Carol and Don Knott and brother of Felicity, Tessa and Stephen. He attended Brockenhurst Grammar School and went to work first at Ordnance Survey and then for nearly 30 years at the firm once called Philips, now Selex. He had a lifelong passion for bikes, planes and explosions and, as a research engineer, he was, as he put it, paid money to do what he loved.

Richard died of cancer on 14 December 2006 after an illness courageously borne. He is an irreplaceable part of the lives of all who knew him. He lives on through his girls and through all who were touched by his compassion and good humour.

Remembering Ricky

There are some places where you can go to remember Ricky.

There is an engraved stone tablet marking the spot where his ashes are buried in the churchyard at St.Johns in Rownhams, which was his local church.   It is in a beautiful spot under a very old tree.

There is a bench in Richard's memory at Furzey Gardens in Minstead.  It was made from solid oak by a student with special needs.  Ricky loved the gardens and he would surely have appreciated this bench which looks out on the lake from his favourite spot.   Some of Ricky's ashes were sprinkled on the water close by.
